Langham’s Industries Marine group plots course for financial efficiency with bluQube

The move is set to propel the group’s financial efficiency to a new level, with real-time reporting, automation of manual tasks, and seamless integration with other business software.

 

The Challenge

Like many organisations running on ageing infrastructure, Langham Industries faced the prospect of making significant investments to keep its servers operational. According to Company Secretary, Alan Deves, the systems were becoming “cumbersome and inefficient,” sparking the search for a cloud-based alternative.

Initially, Langham opted for a well-known market leader, assuming it would deliver everything the group needed. However, Alan explained that the system wasn’t fit for purpose:

Our initial choice was to go the market leading brand as we thought it would be easy and they’d be attuned to all of the detail we needed and we’d be well looked after. But we quickly regretted that decision as we found that it wasn’t designed for a UK group like ours – it’d clearly been developed for the US market. It was a disaster.”

Attempts to resolve the issues proved just as frustrating.

We then tried to trouble-shoot our issues with the supplier’s UK team, but it became clear they had even less product knowledge than we had. We were subsequently passed on to a third party for support but were obliged to pay four-figures for each and every call for support. It was untenable and we had to go back to the drawing board and find better customer support.

 

The Solution

Re-engaging with bluQube provided the answer. With in-house product development and UK-based expertise, bluQube could offer the knowledge, support, and flexibility that Langham Industries needed.

We are a little bit different from other companies and require some specific features to be developed. We’re working through them and integrating each of the companies in the group in a step-by-step process. But overall, the difference has been night and day.”

 

The Results

The phased rollout is already delivering significant improvements. Once complete, the system will provide centralised, cloud-based financial reporting across all group companies – saving time, improving accuracy, and enhancing decision-making.

Once we are set up and have integrated all the companies within the group, the cloud system will save us a tremendous amount of time and effort pulling together financial information. That will give us the capacity and insight to make better, smarter decisions on company strategy.”
