Accounting software vendor promotes paperless & devolved access solutions

At Softworld Accounting & Finance, visitors were able to see new functionality of Symmetry's bluQube solution that meets the growing demand for electronic and self-service methods of accounting. Key modules that were demonstrated included CommerceConnect, Invoice Scanning, DashBoard and Reports Express.
Symmetry’s managing director Simon Kearsley commented, “As pressures build on finance departments to focus more on cost-cutting measures such as strategic buying, more organisations are beginning to devolve much of the traditional accounting functions to non-finance staff such as budget holders. To make this successful, they need tools that are easy to use, regular reports that are tailored to an individual’s requirements and access to real-time information that allows them to extract key information quickly.”
He added, “There is also more onus on reducing the paper trail, which is why our bluQube product has been designed to encourage as many electronic based transactions as possible, from end to end e-procurement through to accessing scanned invoices via the central finance system.”
In addition to the powerful functionality that bluQube offers, visitors were able to see the following functionality demonstrated on the bluQube stand:
PDF Connector (part of CommerceConnect) - Enables goods and services to be ordered electronically by e-mailing PDF documents direct from the finance system. This approach reduces the paper trail and eliminates the traditional delays of other methods such as post or fax. This functionality provides a safe, accountable devolvement of the purchasing function to budget holders, empowering them to look after the delivery of their own products and services.
Invoice Scanning – Through its partnership with document management specialist Version One, invoices can be scanned and retrieved directly from the bluQube finance system. This means organisations no longer need to store paper-based invoices saving on space and also the time required to find paperwork manually (a dispensation to stores invoices electronically can now be granted by Customs & Excise).
Reports Express – Automated and electronic distribution of multiple standard and customised reports to multiple recipients at pre-set time periods.
DashBoard – Easy and self-service access by finance and non-finance users via a personalised web portal enabling requisitioning, ordering, approving, enquiries and access to tailored reporting & business intelligence information. This provides all users with an instant, real-time view of the current financial situation that is pertinent to them.
